Markus Malmgren 

Markus is all about energy and enthusiasm in his work at McAdam. He helps his clients by creating a holistic financial planning strategy with clear concise recommendations, action plans, and implementation strategies. His areas of specialization include but are not limited to tax-efficient retirement planning, spend-down strategies, tax-smart legacy planning, asset protection strategies, and turning hard-earned retirement assets into after-tax income streams. After all, no one wants to see Uncle Sam take a bigger chunk of their hard-earned savings than he should. By developing a deep understanding of the client’s vision for their ideal future, he’s able to develop a unique tailored solution to help them achieve their vision no matter how soon or far away.

After graduating from the University of Mary Washington, he knew right away that he wanted to do something that allowed him to work with people directly and have an impact on their lives. This led him to become a financial advisor—what he calls the perfect combination of analytical and interpersonal skills. Markus started under a team of veteran advisors with decades of experience and quickly grew his practice to being one of the top in the firm nationwide. In 2018 his focus turned to training and developing junior advisors as a Senior Manager at McAdams’ Tysons Corner office. Beginning in 2023, he began to work side by side with his business partner Spencer Hall in ensuring that their high-net-worth clients receive the most thoughtful and meaningful, concierge-style of boutique independent financial planning services.

When away from the office, he spends his time enjoying the great outdoors with his wife Emma, their daughter Hallie, their son Berand and their two Great Pyrenees dogs on their farm located in the Virginia countryside town of Warrenton.
